Mr McIntosh is a Consultant Breast Surgeon in the Breast Unit at Belfast City Hospital. His entire practice is in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of breast conditions, and he does not undertake any other types of surgery.
After studying Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, graduating in 1993, his surgical training began in the South of Scotland, before periods of research in both Glasgow and Cambridge. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1998, and he subsequently undertook further surgical training in the North and North-East of Scotland.
He completed his training in a National Oncoplastic Training Fellowship in Leeds, gaining extensive experience in breast reconstruction surgery. He was admitted to the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council in 2005 (4041838). He is a member of the Association of Breast Surgery, the professional body representing healthcare professionals treating breast disease in the United Kingdom.
Mr McIntosh took up a consultant post in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in 2005. In 2009, he relocated to Northern Ireland, taking up a post as Consultant Breast Surgeon in the Breast Unit at Belfast City Hospital.
Mr McIntosh has extensive experience in all aspects of breast cancer surgery, and has a particular interest in reconstruction of the breast following the surgical treatment of breast cancer, in order to achieve the best possible aesthetic outcomes for women undergoing this type of treatment.
